All Change for the Pod Chat Newsletter
a quick heads up on changes to the format over the next few weeks
If you listen to Pod Chat, the podcast that this newsletter came from, you’ll know that the most recent episode shared the news that it was the final one. If not, I’ve added it below.
As the episode mentions, my focus has been elsewhere for the last few months, and while I’ve enjoyed the show and talking with my guests from the podcast industry, it’s time to bring that show to a close.
That also means that the format of this newsletter will change, given it’s always been the complementary piece to the podcast. Here’s what’s coming, so you can decide if it’s something you want to continue being a part of. If not, I’ll share some industry newsletters at the end that I feel you’d like.
Goodbye Pod Chat, Hello to Be a Better Podcaster
Pod Chat was set up as a show that would bring the very best minds in the podcasting space on to the show, to talk about changes they’ve seen, future trends, and where they see the medium going.
And, while I may be biased, I think it succeeded, with some amazing guests who are at the forefront of shaping the industry.
However, my passion has always been more on the back end, and helping podcasters both new and a bit more experienced enjoy their craft more. It’s what I do in my role as Head of Podcaster Support and Experience at Captivate; it’s what I do in online communities and groups; and it’s what I do with my main podcast, One Minute Podcast Tips.
That show, as you might be able to tell by the name, helps you be a better podcaster in just a minute a week, whether that’s improving your recording, editing, publishing, sharing, growing, networking, and more. And it’s this direction that the “new” newsletter will be following.
Be a Better Podcaster will act as an extension to One Minute Podcast Tips, with the format looking something like:
One Minute Podcast Tips episodes
regular videos, primarily looking at tools I mention on the show
reviews of hardware, software, etc
This will all be part of the regular Be a Better Podcast publication. However, there’s also the Magic Mic membership for One Minute Podcast Tips, where you can join up to receive an exclusive monthly podcast tip just for you and your show, early access to every episode, and a fun One Minute Podcast Tips sticker.
This has already proven to be a popular option with podcasters just like you - if this sounds like something you’d be interested in, you can check that out below:
Thanks for being part of the Pod Chat News community up until now, I really do appreciate it. If the new direction isn’t for you, and you want to keep up to date with industry news, I recommend the following newsletters/podcasts:
You can then use the unsubscribe option at the end of this email to be removed from future updates, and I wish you all the very best on your continuing podcast journey.
However, if the new Be a Better Podcaster / One Minute Podcast Tips “collaboration” seems like it’d be useful for you, you don’t need to do anything - your subscription will continue as normal, and you can expect to see the changes to the new name and format over the next few weeks.
In the meantime, if you wanted to catch up on any of the episodes from One Minute Podcast Tips to get a feel for the show, you can follow for free on your preferred podcast app below.
Tomorrow (Monday, November 6) sees it reach episode 50, so it’s a great time to catch up!
Thanks again, and I look forward to seeing you as part of the Be a Better Podcaster community. Happy podcasting!
Congrats on the new launch Danny, and thank you for the shoutout!
