Anyone that’s followed my updates here for a while, or knows me from online, will know I’m a bit of serial podcaster. No, it’s okay to call me that - I am! What can I say, I just love podcasting!
It’s why, over the years, I’ve created 11 shows of my own and co-hosted a few more. So, yes, I love podcasting - which is why I’m excited to share news about a new podcast about to be launched imminently.
In & Around Podcasting is a podcast industry show - but with a difference. The brainchild of British podcast veteran Mark Asquith, who’s the co-founder of Captivate.fm and someone who’s well-known and hugely respected in the podcasting space, the show throws your typical approach to industry shows out the window.
While there are some excellent “podcasts about podcasting” already out there, generally they’re from the top down, meaning there’s a lot of insider talk and jargon being used that might not mean a lot to the average indie podcaster. And these podcasters can feel left behind.
Enter In & Around Podcasting. From the show’s description,
The inclusive podcast industry show for the day-to-day podcast enthusiast. Bringing industry insiders and real-life podcasters together to highlight powerful podcasting perspectives.
In & Around Podcasting has been designed to respect and live alongside those shows and to be an accessible, inclusive podcast for every single podcaster; a show that allows everyone with an interest in the medium to have a fair, open and transparent view on the podcasting industry and how it affects them - this is your place to be heard.
The podcasting industry belongs to us all, not just the elite and it doesn't matter how long you've been in the industry, your voice is valuable.
Sounds good to me! Not only that, but the show has a very fun vibe and brand to complement this open, friendly approach, as you’ll see by the artwork, and the various segments in the show. Fun stuff that rewards podcasters doing good things; promoting new indie podcasters and their trailers; whimsical podcast wish-lists; and more.
And I’m super stoked to be the co-host of the show with Mark! Combining our years of experience in the industry, both as podcasters and working in the space at Captivate, we’ve heard from many podcasters who are looking for a show that has industry insider levels of insights and discussion, but with more relevance to the average indie podcaster.
This show is for them.
As well as bringing on industry leaders, we’ll also be having indie podcasters as guest co-hosts and talking about their views on podcasting as is stands, and how the latest trends, technology, and more impact them and their show(s).
It launches in the very near future (as in, not even a few weeks from now!), with new episodes every Tuesday morning on either your preferred podcast app, or YouTube if you prefer video, with proper video episodes into the bargain!
