Meet 7 Awesome Scottish Podcasts/Podcasters - Scottish Collab Week Part 2
these could be some of your new favourite shows
First up, apologies - this was meant to be published last Sunday, but unfortunately life got in the way. So, instead, after sharing 6 Scottish podcasts and podcasters you should know as part one of a special Scottish Collaboration Week, here’s the second part. In no particular order, here we go (be sure to click the link for each show to follow on your preferred podcast app of choice).
Crime Divers Podcast
True crime podcasts can, understandably, be sombre in tone and that's understandable. But hosts Gill and Laura, while respecting their topic, make Crime Divers Podcast less sombre down to their sisterly love, and interest in the cases discussed each episode.
This makes for an entertaining and educational show, which takes you into the cases and the people involved with respect and dignity.
What is…?
Next up is the What is...? podcast, where hosts Max, Tom, and Abbi pick literally anything and have some fun!
This is a fun little show! Taking random questions, such as what is dungeons and dragons, what is Stranger Things, what is the best US sitcom, and other random thoughts, the chemistry of the three co-hosts make this a fun listen, and keeps what could be topics that drift off on track. Thumbs up!
Chatsunami
A little change of pace, now - Chatsunami is a variety podcast focused on gaming, films, anime and general interests. I'm an old school geek, so this podcast is right up my alley. Host Satsunami invites varied guests on to talk about all things geek - gaming, movies, streaming, and more.
From taking one for the team to watch even the worst Terminator movies, to James Bond, Minions, and how video games may have reached their peak, there's something here for everyone. But especially if you're a geek. So put your favourite gaming headphones on, sit back, and enjoy.
Scottish & Scared Podcast
The Scottish & Scared Podcast discusses all things Scottish (natch!) and sometimes scary. Each episode of this podcast is the perfect length to sit down, enjoy, and then play the next episode. Well-presented and with a slew of notes to engage her listeners, host Stefanie takes listeners on a journey to the haunted and spooky past of Scotland.
With some unusual tales to make you think about checking the house before you go to sleep, this is great stuff!
Which Murderer?
The Which Murderer? podcast talks about the methods, motives and background to murderers and their victims, covering two crimes per episode and debating from the victim’s perspective.
I thought I'd seen pretty much every format of True Crime podcasts, but this one is new to me! Co-hosts Melanie and Holly share two crimes per episode, and then talk about which murderer they'd want to kill them if they had to choose.
Macabre? Possibly. Interesting? Hell yes! New follower/subscriber here. Check it out for yourself!
The Culture Swally
Celebrating the best of Scottish film and TV shows, each episode of The Culture Swally takes a look at some bizarre and funny news stories from Scotland, and reviews one of their favourite Scottish films and TV shows. This is a great new find for me! The two hosts are very amiable and their easy back and forth makes every listen a delight.
And, coming from Scotland even though I'm now in Canada, The Culture Swally is a delight for any Scottish person to fall back into the world of Scotland for an hour or two.
Terrible Music
Last up, but by no means least whatsoever, is Terrible Music, a comedy music duo from the West of #Scotland. With inspiration from Ninja Sex Party, Tenacious D, and more, this is a vodcast with bite.
And that’s a wrap on this bonus newsletter for this special Scottish event - I hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know some of my fellow Scottish creators, and you have some new shows to add to your listening/watching list.
Until next time, happy podcasting!
